COLE HAMELS IS BACK IN THE MIX

It looks like the noise around Cole Hamels to the Yankees is picking up volume. The latest story is around the Yankees putting Ivan Nova on the table. The Phillies sent their scouts to Arlington to check him out, according to Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News. If nothing else, t shows the regardless of what Brian Cashman has said, the Yankees are looking for a blockbuster deal to bring a premier arm into the rotation.

Ivan Nova's came up recently, in trade talks with the Cincinnati Reds. He was the Yankees' chip for Johnny Cueto. If he was on the block before, he can be on the block again. After the Yankees slammed the door on any deals with the name Judge or Severino. Since the Phillies want to get a potential star in return, With his ERA of 3.38 and opponent BA of .254, and after just 6 weeks of pitching post-Tommy John surgery, there is upside to this deal for the Phillies.

Most agree that David Price may be the better deal, with 3 years and over $70M left on Hamels' contract. The asking price should be markedly lower. As you heard earlier today from BYB, "WE'RE DEFINITELY IN ON PRICE".. Still, you don't send scouts to Arlington unless you're talking turkey.

Stay tuned .... things are about to get interesting ....
