ELI WHITESIDE IS A YANKEE! WAIT, WHO?

That's right! The first big move of the winter for the Yankees and who isn't excited about Eli Whiteside?

It's true, it's being reported in the Mercury News, HERE, that the Yankees have claimed San Francisco Giants catcher Eli Whiteside off waivers. According to the News: "Whiteside will likely compete with another ex-Giants catcher, Chris Stewart, for a backup job with the Yankees.

The 33-year-old Whiteside spent most of the 2012 season with the Giants' Triple-A Fresno team, where he batted .224 in 60 games with one home run and 20 RBIs.

He appeared in just 12 games with San Francisco this season, going 1-for-11 (.091) with two RBIs, and was not on San Francisco's postseason roster."

There you have it, yet another catcher that the Yankees have picked up and Francisco Cervelli is just sitting there with huge opportunities in front of him and they just keep turning their back on him... what gives? I feel like Cisco's days are numbered...

Anyway, welcome Eli, good luck!
