PANIC EXPOSED! SOLARTE TRADED FOR HEADLEY

I am angry with my New York Yankees right now.  You find a diamond in the rough like Yangervis Solarte... He brings energy and youth to this Yankees organization... and then you trade him for a guy that we've been watching for 4 years now. With that watching comes age. HELLO?  So, more of the same? An aging player with a record of injury. How does this help exactly?

Reports are that Yangervis Solarte and Rafael De Paula are on their way to the San Diego Padres for Chase Headley. Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com has the story and writes:

"The Yankees acquired veteran third baseman Chase Headley for infielder Yangervis Solarte and pitching prospect Rafael De Paula, sources said.

The Padres will send $1 million plus to pay the roughly $4M million left on Headley's $10.53M 2014 salary. He is a free agent after the year.

The Yankees, in need of infield help, have been scouting Headley, who's looked better recently since getting shots to quell a back issue. Headley is still having an atypical season, showing far less power than usual."

This is the key part of Heyman's report though:
"Headley's value has slipped as he's approached free agency."
Hmm, an aging player who's value has slipped? Don't we have enough of those?

For you Yankee fans, you should be angry.  We have asked for a mix of youth, energy and the building of our kids and farm for years. You mix in alittle veteran help and there is your solution for a perfect team. Now we just have more of the same.

Welcome to the Bronx, Chase.. don't think this post is about you personally. It's about the Yankees, and the decisions they are NOT making to better this club.  I have no doubt you can do the job, but we gave away some decent young talent that shouldn't have been given. Too bad.

Trust me... we'll have more coverage of this tomorrow. We'll keep beating the drum at BYB.

That's what we do.
